Banking and reconciliation

Import the statement, let the rules match, and close the month at zero

Bank and cash accounts in their currencies, a statement that arrives by paste or as a CSV, Excel or OFX file, rules you write once, matching against existing journals, transfers between accounts, and a reconciliation that will not close while a difference remains.

What it does

Banking and reconciliation

Bank and cash accounts

Each in its own currency with its IBAN, tied to its account in the chart, plus a petty cash box.

Statement import

Paste the table or upload CSV, Excel or OFX. Debit and credit columns or one signed amount column — both are understood, and Saudi banks' legacy-encoded files are detected and read.

Matching rules

Write the rule once: a text to match, an account to send it to, and a VAT treatment. The following lines from the same bank classify themselves.

Matching against existing journals

A statement line that mirrors a posted receipt or payment is tied to it; one with no journal raises its own, with the VAT split out.

Transfers between accounts

Account to account, in one currency or two, in a single journal.

A reconciliation that closes at zero

The statement balance against the ledger balance, with the movements that have not reached the statement listed by name; and it will not close while a single halala remains.

How it flows

One month with the bank

After the rules, a handful of lines is usually all that is left for you.

  1. Import the statement

Pasted from the bank's site, or as a file.

  2. Apply the rules

What matches a rule is classified; what matches a journal is tied to it.

  3. Review what is left

Raise its journal from the line itself, or tie it to an existing one.

  4. Check the difference

The screen tells you how much is left and where to look.

  5. Close the reconciliation

At zero, with a date and the name of whoever closed it.

Where it stops today

We write down what we have not built yet, so you do not discover it after subscribing.

  • There is no direct bank feed (open banking) today; the statement arrives by paste or file.
  • Readable formats: CSV, TSV, Excel and OFX. MT940 and camt.053 are not supported yet.
Common questions

Banking and reconciliation

My bank exports the statement as Excel — will it be read?

Yes. Upload the file as it is; the table is read and the date, description and amount columns are recognised. If the layout differs, map the columns once from the paste screen.

What if a statement line has no journal?

Raise its journal from the line itself: the contra account and the VAT, posted and matched. If the movement repeats every month, write a rule for it.

Can a reconciliation close with a difference?

No. The difference stays on screen until it is zero, alongside the movements that are in the ledger but not yet on the statement. That is what makes the reconciliation evidence rather than an exercise.
