Inventory, assemblies and fixed assets

Real inventory, not a quantity field on an item. And every movement has its journal.

What it does

Warehouses and a move behind every line

Every sale or purchase line actually moves stock, and cost of sales posts itself.

FIFO or weighted average

Choose the costing method; cost layers are kept, so it is known which consignment each unit left from.

Counts, adjustments and transfers

A physical count compared against the book, an adjustment that carries its cost centre, and transfers between warehouses.

A valuation that ties to the account

The valuation report equals the inventory account on the balance sheet. If they differ, something is wrong, and the report says so.

Bills of material and build orders

A bill of material with sub-assemblies and a refusal on cycles, and a build order that consumes components through work in progress and produces the item carrying its overheads.

Kits that explode on sale

A kit is sold as one item and breaks into its components in stock.

Fixed assets

An asset register, straight-line or declining depreciation, a monthly charge posted once per period, and disposal at a gain or a loss.
