Start with the Excel option
In Migrate data pick Excel / CSV, set the Opening balance date and press Start. A list of the seven kinds appears, each on its own row.
Download a template or use your own file
Press Download template (number 1) for a CSV with the right columns, or use your own file as it is. Then press Choose file (number 2) on the matching row. The number of rows read appears beside the kind's name.
Accepted formats: .xlsx, .csv, .tsv and .txt. An old .xls file cannot be read, so open it in Excel and save it as .xlsx first.
Match the columns
Press Next. Each column in your file shows a sample of its values and the suggested field in Basmtak, and the matching reads both Arabic and English headings. Change what it got wrong, or choose to ignore a column. Required fields carry a star, and any still missing are listed under the table.
Check the rows that have problems
Press Review. Any row with a problem appears with its number and reason, such as Not a number, Date not understood or No account with this code. Fix your file, go back with Back and press Replace to upload it again.
Confirm the account types, then apply
If an account's type was worked out from its label, Inferred shows beside it. Check the type, change it if needed, tick I have checked the types above and they are right and press Apply the migration. The Opening quantity column in an items file brings stock in on the start date.
The type fixes which side of the financial statements the account sits on, so do not skip past this step unread.
