Compare the trial balance
After applying, the Migration complete screen lists how much was created. Press Trial balance (number 1), choose the start date and compare each account with the trial balance in your old system.
Look at the difference account
A balance on Opening balance equity means the trial balance did not balance, or that receivables or stock came in through their documents. Open invoices are recorded against this account rather than revenue, so once every balance is in, look at what remains there with your accountant.
| Account | Debit | Credit |
|---|---|---|
| Receivables (a migrated open invoice) | 1,000.00 | |
| Opening balance equity | 1,000.00 |
Check receivables, stock and assets
Press Aging on the same screen and match what each customer owes. Migrated invoices are real documents that show on statements, but they carry no VAT, because their revenue and VAT were already reported in your old system, so they stay out of your new return. Check the quantities in Inventory and the values in Fixed assets too.
Undo it if you need to
Press Undo this migration (number 2). You can also find it later in the Earlier migrations table at the top of the screen. Everything the run created is deleted and the books return to how they were, so you can fix your files and start again.
Undo is refused once work has begun: when the entries' period is closed, a payment sits on a migrated invoice, opening stock has moved, or a customer, account or item the run created is used on a new document. So check everything before you begin your daily entries.
