Choose how payrolls post
In the side menu, under Books, choose Basmtak HR payrolls. The Posting payrolls to the books card offers three ways:
- Automatic: the journal posts as soon as the payroll is approved or paid.
- Draft for review: the journal is created as a draft for an accountant to review and post from Journals.
- Manual: nothing is written until you press Post or Draft on this page. This applies until you choose otherwise.
Only the owner, or someone who can close periods, can change this.
Follow the payrolls and their journals
Below the card is a table of payrolls approved in Basmtak HR: Status in HR, Net pay, Accrual journal and Payment journal. Where a journal is missing, the row shows Post and Draft buttons.
The accrual records the expense and what is owed to staff. The payment records the money leaving the bank.
| Account | Debit | Credit |
|---|---|---|
| Salaries and allowances | 100,000.00 | |
| GOSI employer contribution | 10,000.00 | |
| Wages payable | 100,000.00 | |
| GOSI payable | 10,000.00 |
Review the journal
Open the journal from the table. At the top you see its source and Open in Basmtak to go back to the payroll. If a warning says the employer GOSI share is estimated, check it against the monthly GOSI statement before posting.
If you chose drafts, the number waiting to be posted appears beside the page title, and pressing it takes you to them.
End-of-service provision and other data
The End-of-service provision tab shows how the provision is built and what each employee has earned. With the statutory method, each posted payroll adds the increase to the provision.
Settlements, advances and custody reach the books only if you turn on Receive the rest of Basmtak HR's data automatically.
