The month-end review

An automated reviewer runs twelve checks on the month: duplicate payments, numbering gaps, bank, VAT and stock differences. Fix them before you close.

Open the review

Open Reports, then Month-end review, or press Review the month on a month's card in Fiscal periods. It starts on last month, and you can change it under Month (1).

Start with the worst

Findings are sorted worst first: Danger, then Warning, then Info. Among the things checked:

  • Possibly duplicated payments or supplier bills, and unusual amounts.
  • Gaps in numbering, voided documents and unposted drafts.
  • Bank statement against the ledger, and unmatched lines.
  • VAT, stock and control-account differences, and items with negative stock.
  • A month with no payroll journal, and customers over their credit limit.

Deal with each finding

Under a finding are links to the right screen, and Details lists the items with an Open button each. Fix the problem, then press Re-check, because the result is kept for ten minutes.

If the finding is fine in your case, like two equal instalments under a contract, press Dismiss (2) and say why. A note is required. The dismissal holds while the finding stays the same and lapses when it changes.

Who dismissed a finding, when and why stays visible under Show dismissed, and Restore brings it back.

Close the month

When you see Nothing to look at this month, or once what matters is handled, go to Fiscal periods and press Close. The review does not block closing; it is there to help you. You can export it and keep it with the month's file.
