Read the reason
Open E-invoicing, press the Rejected filter, then open the invoice. The ZATCA card shows ZATCA's message as it arrived, usually in English and starting with a code such as
BR-KSA.
Find out what can be corrected
An issued invoice cannot be edited. When you file again, Books signs it afresh and takes its data like this:
- Your company details are read from Settings at signing time. If the refusal is about them, correct them there and file again.
- The customer's details were saved in the invoice when it was issued. Editing the customer record only helps their future invoices.
- The lines and amounts stay as issued.
If the refusal is about the customer's details or the invoice lines, filing again sends the same data and it is refused again, and every attempt spends a counter number for good. In that case do not press the button: contact support.
File again after correcting
Press Correct and file again in the list or on the ZATCA card, and accept the confirmation. The document is signed afresh with the next counter number and goes to ZATCA, and the refused one stays in the archive exactly as it was. Books never does this on its own, because every attempt spends a number from your company's chain.
- Rejected
- Fix the cause
- Signed afresh
- ZATCA replies
Check the result
The invoice returns to Pending, then its status changes with ZATCA's reply, and the old attempt shows an Archived chip. While a tax invoice stays rejected it cannot reach the customer, unless it was issued before your company connected to ZATCA.
