Raise a debit note to a supplier

Returned goods, or a mistake on a supplier bill? A debit note corrects the bill, the stock and the VAT.

This feature comes with certain plans. If it is not in your menu, it is not in your business's plan.

Start from the original bill

A debit note always starts from its bill. Open the posted supplier bill and press Debit note (2). The Debit notes tab is for viewing and has no button to create one.
Start from the original bill

Give the reason

Pick a ready reason such as Goods returned or type your own, then press Create credit note. The window currently borrows the wording of a sales credit note, but what it creates here is a debit note to the supplier, and it is not sent to ZATCA.
Give the reason

Edit the lines to match what happened

A draft opens with every line of the bill. Keep only what the correction covers:

  • Remove the lines you did not return with the × button.
  • Change the quantity to what actually went back.
  • Take out of stock: leave it ticked when goods left your warehouse, and untick it when only the price is being corrected.
A note cannot exceed the bill, nor can all the bill's notes together.

Post the note

Press Post the bill, which is the button's name on a note too. The note takes a number, comes off the bill's balance by itself and appears in the Debit notes card on the bill. If the bill is already fully paid there is nothing left to reduce, so the note shows on the supplier's statement.
