People and permissions

Invite your accountant to your books

Give your accountant or accounting firm direct access to your business, with the permissions you choose.

Add them as an Accountant

Open Businesses & people, then the People tab, and press Add a person. Enter your accountant's email, tick your businesses under Businesses they may open, and choose Accountant as the Role. An accountant takes a seat, like anyone else you invite.
Add them as an Accountant

Decide what they can do

The Accountant role starts with all six permissions, so they can close periods and file VAT, and also act as an account administrator: adding people and opening the Audit trail. If you want them on the books only, untick a permission they do not need, such as Manage banks, then press Add.
The subscription and payment stay with the owner alone, whatever the accountant's permissions.

Your accountant accepts

Your accountant opens the link from their email. If they have an account they sign in with it, and if not they enter a name and password on the Complete your invitation screen. They do not need to create a company or subscribe. Until they open the link, Waiting for the invitation link to be opened shows beside their name.

What they see afterwards

Your business appears in the business list at the top of their screen, and they move between it and their other clients without signing out. When the work is finished, close their access from Manage beside their name.
