Record a customer payment

Record what came in, in full or in part, against one invoice or several, so the customer's balance falls and the bank rises.

For one invoice: from the invoice page

Open the invoice and press Record payment. The Amount starts at the full balance, so change it for a part payment. Choose the Date, the Account (bank / cash) and the Method, put the transfer number in Reference, then press Save.

For several invoices: one receipt

From Sales open the Receipts tab and press Receipt. Pick the customer and type the amount, and their open invoices appear under Apply to open invoices. Type what belongs to each one in Applied amount, or press Oldest first to share it out automatically. Save stays off if the Applied total is more than the receipt.

If the payment is a cheque

On the receipt choose Cheque as the Method, and the Cheque no., Drawn on (bank) and Due date boxes appear. The cheque settles the invoice now and debits notes receivable. The bank is only debited when it clears, from the cheques register.

Check the result, and fix mistakes

The invoice becomes Paid, or Partially paid if something remains, and the receipt shows in the Payments card on its page. To undo, open the receipt from Receipts: the × beside an invoice takes the amount off it, and Void receipt cancels the whole receipt. From the same window you can Send on WhatsApp a payment confirmation.
Voiding reverses the journal and the invoices reopen, and a void cannot be undone. Record the correct payment on a new receipt.
