There is no direct bank connection: you download the statement from your bank and upload it. The product detects the format and encoding by itself, Arabic files included, previews the lines before importing, and leaves out lines already imported.
Before you start
- A bank account added on the Banking screen.
- A CSV, TSV, TXT, Excel (.xlsx or .xlsm), OFX/QFX, camt.053 or MT940 file.
Setting it up
Open the bank account
In the side menu choose Banking, open the account, press Import a file and choose the statement file.
Check the preview
The screen states the format and encoding it read, and that nothing has been imported yet. It shows the number of lines, how many are already in the books, and any without a date or amount.
Import the lines
Press the import button, which states the number of lines. The lines stay on the account as unmatched until you match them.
- Download from the bank
- Upload the file
- Preview
- Match
No file? Paste the statement
Press Import statement, paste the lines from a table and set the columns.
What moves across
- File to Books: the account's lines with their dates, amounts and descriptions.
- Books sends nothing to the bank and pays nothing on your behalf.
Troubleshooting
Arabic text came out garbled
The encoding is detected automatically and shown in the preview. If the problem stays, save the file as .xlsx and upload it again.
The preview says lines are already in the books
Those lines were imported before and will not be imported again, which lets you upload statements with overlapping dates.
A warning says the closing balance does not equal the lines
The lines were imported as they are, but the statement may be incomplete. Check it with your bank.
