What went into and out of the owners' money over the period, and where the balance sheet figure came from.

Open the statement

Open Reports, then Statement of changes in equity, set From and To and press Run. It matters when preparing yearly statements, or when owners put money in or take it out.
Open the statement

Read the columns

For each equity account: Opening + Additions − Withdrawals = Closing.

The line Result of the period (not yet closed) is the period's profit or loss before it moves to retained earnings. A loss shows under withdrawals because it reduces equity. After the year-end close, a note under the table gives the amount the closing journal carried.

Tie it to the balance sheet

Total equity here should equal the same line on the balance sheet at the end date. Use Export PDF to attach it to your statements.
